Where do HANAHANIM olive oils come from?

Our extra virgin olive oils come from carefully selected estates in Türkiye (the İzmir and Manisa regions, the heart of the Turkish Aegean) and Crete, known in Türkiye as Girit. Every tin is labelled with a number that identifies its region of origin: 35.1 is İzmir, supplier 1, and 30.28.1 is Greece, Crete, supplier 1. HANAHANIM is the consumer brand of HAMUSH FZCO, an olive oil specialist based in Dubai.

What is the difference between extra virgin olive oil and olive pomace oil?

Extra virgin olive oil is the highest grade of olive oil. It is extracted from fresh olives by mechanical means only, with no heat treatment or chemical extraction, and has an acidity of 0.8% or less as free oleic acid under GSO 1019:2022. It is best as a finishing oil, in dressings, and for low to medium heat cooking. Olive pomace oil is made from the residue left after extra virgin oil is pressed. It is refined and blended with a small share of extra virgin olive oil for character. With a smoke point of roughly 220–240°C it is built for frying, sautéing and roasting.

Which HANAHANIM oil should I use for frying?

Use HANAHANIM Turkish Olive Pomace Oil No. 35.1. It is light in flavour, neutral on the palate and handles everything from a hot pan to a deep fryer. It is what restaurants across Türkiye, Greece, Spain and Italy use for frying, and it does everything sunflower oil does, made from olives instead. Keep the extra virgin oils for finishing, dressings, dips and everyday roasting or sautéing.

How should I store olive oil in the UAE heat?

Olive oil has three enemies: heat, light and air. Keep your tin in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight, such as a closed pantry or a cupboard away from the stove. Do not leave it in a car, on a balcony or next to a window. The metal tin is designed to protect the oil from light, so keep it sealed when not in use. If you decant into a smaller bottle for daily use, choose dark glass and keep it tightly closed. Before it reaches you, every batch is held in HACCP-certified, climate-controlled warehouses in Jebel Ali at around 22–24°C.

How long does a 5-litre tin last after opening?

At typical indoor temperatures of around 22–24°C, an opened tin keeps its quality for several months when stored away from heat, light and air. Unopened, our extra virgin olive oils carry a best-before date two years from the production date printed on the tin. Olive pomace oil keeps 18–24 months from production. Both the harvest and production dates are printed on every tin.

How do I read the number on my HANAHANIM tin?

Every HANAHANIM tin carries a number tied to where the oil came from. For Turkish products we use the official Turkish vehicle licence plate code of the province: 17 is Çanakkale, where our family farm sits, and 35 is İzmir. For Cretan products we use the country code of Greece (30) followed by the city code for Crete (28). The final number identifies the specific supplier from that region. It is not a marketing name, it is the government-registered region the oil comes from.

What does an acidity of 0.8% or less mean?

Acidity, measured as free oleic acid, is the core chemical indicator of olive oil grade. GSO 1019:2022, the Gulf technical regulation for edible olive oil, sets 0.8% as the maximum for extra virgin grade. Low acidity reflects healthy fruit, a careful harvest and prompt pressing. HANAHANIM extra virgin olive oils meet the 0.8% limit and typically run well below it. Acidity tells you what an oil is. Tasting tells you what it is worth, which is why every batch is also tasted before release.

How is HANAHANIM olive oil tested?

Every batch passes a six-step quality process. First, a laboratory analysis from the producer at origin covering acidity, peroxide value, ultraviolet absorption (K232 and K270) and sensory panel results, to International Olive Council and Codex Alimentarius standards. Second, an official health certificate from the food safety authority in the country of origin. Third, GSO 1019:2022 compliance verified at UAE customs. Fourth, voluntary testing of samples from each lot at the Dubai Central Laboratory, the official testing body of Dubai Municipality. Fifth, storage in HACCP-certified, climate-controlled warehouses in Jebel Ali. Sixth, a personal tasting by the founder before any batch is released for sale. Lot documentation is available to wholesale partners on request.

Is HANAHANIM olive oil organic?

Our family farm in Bozköy, Çanakkale is certified organic under Türkiye's national organic-farming standards, but its harvest is small and almost all of it stays in Türkiye. The oils we sell in the UAE come from carefully chosen estates in Türkiye and Crete and are not sold as organic. What they share with the farm is the standard: tested at origin, certified, re-tested in Dubai and personally tasted before release.

Do you deliver across the UAE, and what does delivery cost?

Yes, we deliver anywhere in the UAE. Orders of AED 175 or more ship free. Orders under AED 175 carry a flat AED 25 delivery fee. Orders above AED 5,000 are handled personally by our own HANAHANIM team, free within a 160 km radius of Dubai, and quoted by location beyond that.

Do you ship HANAHANIM olive oil outside the UAE?

Direct retail sales through this site are limited to the UAE at present. For other markets we work through carefully appointed distributors. If you are interested in importing or distributing HANAHANIM, or in private label production, write to b2b@hamush.com.

Do you sell to restaurants, hotels and other businesses?

Yes. HANAHANIM works directly with restaurants, hotels, cafés, gourmet retailers and food businesses across the UAE. A single 5-litre tin can be ordered online at retail pricing. A box of four tins carries 10% off the per-tin price at checkout. Half pallets (120 tins), full pallets (220 tins) and container loads are priced individually. Where else can I buy HANAHANIM olive oil?

HANAHANIM has been available on Amazon.ae and Noon since 2020, on Tradeling and Talabat since 2023, and on Careem since 2024. Buying directly at hanahanim.com gives you the full range in 5-litre tins and boxes of four, with free UAE delivery on orders of AED 175 or more.

Why is the harvest date important, and where do I find it?

Olive oil is a fresh product: it is at its best in the months after harvest and slowly loses aroma and polyphenols with time, heat and light. That is why we print the harvest month, the production date and the best-before date on every tin, and list them on each product page. Look for a recent harvest, and a producer that shows the date rather than hiding it.

Why do you sell olive oil in 5-litre tins instead of glass bottles?

A food-grade metal tin blocks light completely and limits oxidation, which protects the oil from harvest to your kitchen better than clear glass. Five litres is also the practical size for a household that cooks daily and for professional kitchens, and it lowers the price per litre. Minor surface marks or small dents can occur in transport; they are cosmetic only and do not affect the oil inside.
